Digital Camera confusion

I am thinking about buying a digital camera.I bought my first digital camera about seven years back.
I did all kinds of research (read browsing the internet for reviews ;) ) and bought a canon A410.I gave a lot of thought about the camera.
I made sure that the I can attach a zoom lens.I made sure that it uses AA batteries so that if I run out of battery I can get it from the nearby shop rather than charging it for hours.It also uses a compact flash card which was cheaper than the sd card.
After making sure all the things the following happened.

• I never bought a zoom lens or used one with the camera.
• I bought a charger and got few rechargeable AA batteries and carried the charger with the camera.
• SD cards became cheaper than compact flash. :)

When finally that camera stopped working a couple of years back then I was in the market for a digital camera again.

But this time my requirements were different.I wanted a camera that takes nice pictures and is good looking and flashy as well.Since I had a canon I wanted to make a switch to a different brand.

I settled for a casio in red color.When I was about to click the buy button I was asked to read the reviews by my boss(read wife).The reviews were not that good.Again the reviews pointed me to a canon and I bought the  Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.

The camera is made of metal and it with held all the ruf-n-tuf handling by me.And it also took very good pictures.After three years when the camera was dropped in a concrete floor from 3 ft high the lens that came out never went back in.

 Now I am in the market for another camera.
 Now my requirements are different.

•  The camera has to be shock proof.
• Waterproof.
• Should take good pictures.
• And should be in a color different than the dull grey one.

I am considering the following cameras.I will do further research on them and will post what camera I bought finally in sometime.

4. Canon PowerShot SX210IS 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 14x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black).
